Plans and displays are coming together.

Madame LP arrives on Monday to care for the Brocante Studio and the Charlie Cat. 

She will continue unpacking boxes from France while I scour the brocantes for vintage and antique bonbons. 

She will make wonderful things, as only her talented hands can do.

Madame's smiling face is the one you will see at our Pop-Up Shop on July 19th. 

I am finishing jewels for the sale. Today it is earrings. Tomorrow, pendants and necklaces to adorn the antique mannequins.

This flurry of activity will continue until the eleventh hour ... just a few more days until liftoff!

So let's get down to business...

Our Etsy shop is closed for vacaction.

Brocante goods are being gathered at a furious clip. Wonderful, wonderful things. Some will arrive in time for our annual sale.

Our pop-up shop to coincide with the Moss Street Paint-In takes place on Saturday, July 19th in Victoria, British Columbia. This year we will be at 605 Moss Street, joined by Ruth & Nelly and Eight Inch Rule. Business starts at 10:00 am.

Additional brocante treasures will be available at a trunk show in late August once the final boxes arrive.

Good news - Mademoiselle's grand-maman Excelsior is en route from Paris, and will be here in time for the sale in July.

We have just finalized our location and our vintage collective has grown to include some new vendors this year, all very exciting!

Attack of the Cute

 

I've never decided on what to call these little creatures.

I took two of them to school this morning to show my students and one little boy blurted out, "Oh! Sock puppets!"

Sock puppets.

Of course.

 

I have dozens and dozens of these. They start with line drawings which I scan and tidy up. I add antique script and papers to fill in the sections. These two are adhered to wooden cradle panels with scrapbook paper backgrounds. I will add antique shell buttons for texture and visual interest. 

Cheap and cheerful.

Cute.

Maybe even cuter with a child's name in the flags across the top?
