The latest batch of papers I've been dealing with contains a number of old vellum pieces. Realio trulio animal vellum, scraped, cured, and limed in preparation for use as a writing surface. Documents dating mostly from the 1600s.
350+ years of wear and tear, with flowing sepia script and still-crisp signatures and seals. A few wrinkles, to be sure, but they only add to the deliciousness of these beautiful pieces.
