1859 Document regarding the marriage of Pierre and Madeleine: 4 double-sided pages, cream water-marked paper with delicious stains and foxing. 21 cm x 29.5 cm. Thread binding is intact, but only a strip of the original pink cover paper remains. Some printed and embossed fiscal seals.

Lots of books and lots of paper, of course! Collage and assemblage supplies, brocante, and lovely artwork too!
Fine cardboard, with the pharmacy label pasted on top. Contents, directions, and/or prescription number handwritten on each label.
Over the years these boxes have been used to store miscellaneous odds and ends, and small treasures. Most often we find glass and jet beads, some carved with flowers or tête de sanglier.
We met at Le Cordon Bleu Paris Cooking School, where we learned the art of French pastry: bouchons chocolat, gâteau basque, vignerons bavarois, pâte feuilletée, croissant, pâte à choux, croquembouche. Endless combinations of delectable flavours.
We cooked our way in and out of restaurants, cafes, bistros, private homes and show kitchens. Everything from big ticket fundraising dinners to mac 'n' cheese for small children.
And even then, we searched out the old and the interesting. Combing country yard sales for vintage kitchenware, and the flea markets in Hell's Kitchen for lacquered Chinese boxes and antique furniture. Treasures were found on the Upper East Side late at night, put out on the curb with the trash. A painted and embossed leather folding screen, at least six feet tall. An antique bureau. A petite Victorian settee, just large enough for two.
